Book Signing
Thursday, July 24 from 7-9 PM

Children’s author Cynthia Storrs Cotten, of Lockport, will launch her newest book, Window Across Time, with a book signing event at the Art & Soul Gift shop.

Spanning almost two centuries, Window Across Time consists of eight stories linked together by a cobblestone house in a small New York canal town. Through the eyes of the young people who live there, readers get a look inside (or a window to) both large and small moments in the history of the house, Western New York, and the United States.

Cotten, who was born and raised in Lockport, has recently moved back after having been away for most of her adult life.  She holds a master’s degree in writing for children and young adults from Vermont College, and is a member of the Society of Children’s Bookwriters and Illustrators, the Authors Guild, and the Children’s Book Guild of Washington, DC.

She has authored nine books for young people, including The Book Boat’s In, an Erie Canal story that was recently named to the prestigious Bank Street College of Education’s “Best Books for Children” list for 2014.

illustration by Joe Whalen New light-hearted coffee table book featuring illustrations by Joe Whalen, each accompanied by a poem by Jay Krull.

The fifteen very colorful drawings are of clowns along with a variety of animals each clown 'hates'. The tongue-in-cheek poems point out the details of the drawings and attempt to make light of that little four letter word (hate) that is often used but seldom intended for its harsher meaning.

Important Notice:

Market Street Art Center, Inc., the not-for-profit 501(c) (3), announced in December of 2013 that it was moving from 247 Market Street to a new - yet to be determined - location. This has caused some confusion.

We are still here, continuing here as we always have, currently operating under the name: Market Street Art Studios. We will still present classes, exhibitions events, and support local and regional artists as we always have. We will be updating our website with more information.

Here is a story that clarifies what is going on: www.eastniagarapost.com/2014/01/market-street-art-center-splits-from.html
