Douglas
Michalski, a One-Man Show
Downstairs
Gallery
March 8 through April 6, 2008
Doug
Milchalski, a life long resident of Lockport, has recently retired
after thirty two years of teaching art (and coaching basketball)
in Lockport, Newfane and Attica. In his early teens he was influenced
by his art teacher, Joe Whalen and decided to make art a career.
He received a Bachelor's degree in Art Education from Rosary
Hill College (now known as Daeman College). He currently maintains
a studio (#5) at the Market Street Art Center.
Doug's
work has been exhibited throughout Western New York. He has experimented
in many types of media but mostly enjoys working in watercolor.
In addition to painting Doug enjoys travel (places he has visited
are a frequent subject of his paintings) but, he says, he mostly
enjoys being a husband to his wife, Kathy, and a father to his
children, Sarah, Roger, and Shannan.
Reception
was Sunday, March 9 from 2:00 to 4:00pm.
