News Release! 2/20/2007:Market Street Art Center is pleased to announce that Joseph Buczkowski has been named to the position of Art Director.

Mr. Buczkowski has been a frequent juror for shows and is currently responsible for the hanging of gallery shows at the center.

His new duties will include the production and organization of the gallery shows, the promotion of art to the community and the development of classes for both artists and non-artists. He maintains his Crooked Fence Studio at the center.

Joe has been an active supporter of the growth of art in our area. He instituted the artists’ group known as “The Third Thursday Group,” a group of local and regional artists gathering once a month for unstructured discussions exchanging ideas and information. He has also begun a mentoring program for promising young students.

His interest in art began at early age. He studied under Sister Julia at St. Joseph’s Academy and later under well-known painter and teacher William Storrs. He has a Fine Arts Degree from Niagara County Community College and currently works as a design engineer for Praxair, Inc. He is noted for his watercolors of historic old Lockport and he also does commissioned work of individual homes.

I couldn’t be more pleased that he has accepted this position.”
